Even though work was determined to keep my weekend full, the hubs and I decided to enjoy a few hours of fall outside. We grabbed a few iced coffees (bad life choice), quilts, and books to spend some quality time with each other and the changing leaves. I can’t describe how much I LOVE fall. Love it.
What you don’t see in this photo is that we spent a lot of the time outside fighting over the quilt. Y’all, the Chicopee Stripes quilt is a lap-sized quilt. It’s great when I’m on the couch by myself. However, the hubs was not amused when we couldn’t cover our backs and our feet. hahaha. He also wasn’t amused that I tucked the quilt in under my body. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.
My mom also got wind of a new project I am going to start this weekend, and she said that I wasn’t allowed to start another project until I finished a quilt I started this summer. And even though I’m 28 and a grown adult, I listened to her. Now probably more than I did when I was 16. She’s always right.
I’ve been holding off on quilting this bad boy because I couldn’t decide on a quilting pattern. I was making this quilt way more complicated than it needed to be, and the hubs came to the rescue. He told me I needed to keep it simple because the quilt itself is simple. Now that I’ve quilted this I couldn’t agree more with his vision. Plus, it was super easy and fast. I was a little paranoid to use the little blue pen, but it all came out in the wash. YES, I washed my quilt! Why have I not been doing this all along?
So, now I am free to start more projects that will look like a quilt designed by me and some Christmas stockings. Who knows if either will be successful, but I’m excited!

I have red nine patch quilt just like that! Mine has been waiting to be quilted for years so don’t feel bad. You’re way ahead of me!

Good job washing!! Now you know what you’ve been missing out on! And my husband and I fight all the time over the quilts, mainly because I make them for him/kids, etc. but they’re still all mine 🙂

What a perfect day y’all had! Glad to hear your blue marker washed out. I’m scared to death of marking my quilts…even after I test the fabric. I need to get over that, don’t I?
Your mom might unintentionally guilt me into quilting my own nine-patch (which has been sitting around unfinished for ~10 years) 😀
I love this nine patch. The red & white is classic and your mother is right… this project needed to be finished. It is too pretty to sit unfinished.

Simple is so often the best! Maybe your mom needs to give us all advice. I keep starting things thinking they will make me feel better but now I have 7 WIPs and it is out of control. I love your Saturday park scene photo. So peaceful!
