WiP Wednesday

My love affair with the Kaffe Stripes is continuing.  In fact, this might become an all out affair, where I go all in, blow my fabric budget, and buy yards of these beauties.  GAHHHHH, where is my trust fund/sugar daddy/winning lotto ticket?!  I just want to sleep, drink coffee, and make pretty things.

After prepping these quilts, and learning that it will be another two weeks without my machine, my wonderful friend Melanie let me borrow her machine.  It’s nice to get a chance to piece while I’m waiting to quilt.  That way I won’t be too behind once I get it back.  My goal is to have a few quilts basted and ready for when I get Big Bertha back.  Then, it’s on!

It was such a great feeling this week to be able to sew again.  I was going stir crazy without the hum of a machine.

Y’all.  I can’t.  At first my husband was not digging this, and then he saw this and he said, “Are you sure you don’t want to keep this one?!”  hahahahaha.  If I had my way, we would have 50 quilts in our house.

ImageDoes anyone else watch Parenthood?!  Because nothing makes me happier than when Aiden from Sex and the City comes back.  My God, I love him.  Do you sew while watching TV?

All of the rows are ironed and pieced, and now I’m just waiting to baste this bad boy.  I cannot explain how much I love this quilt… and it does look rather nice on our guest bed…  I know I planned on making two of these, but you might be seeing a third sometime this year… or even a fourth one.

  1. Love the rich colors of those stripes- I came very, very close to buying some yardage during a recent sale at Hawthorne but resisted. I need to focus a little! 😉

  2. I love love love it, especially how it looks on a real bed, with those pillows. And if you find a way to just sleep, drink coffee, and make pretty things I will move in with you. I might want wine on the list though.

  3. I’m a new Parenthood addict- I watched all the previous seasons over the holidays while I was sick and just got caught up on the current season last week. That show is amazing and I love me some Crosby- he kills me. And yep, I love it that Aiden is on the show sometimes! I’m loving your Kaffe stripedy quilt more and more each time I see a shot of it. And sometimes I watch shows while I cut or press, but not while I sew…that’s reserved for music.

  4. Gorgeous! I really need to catch up on Parenthood – I wait till its on Netflix. But I love seeing actors I know from other shows appearing in roles I”m not familiar with.

  5. So, I’m not really a big stripe fan, and the generally the Kaffe Fassett fabrics are too busy for me, especially when they’re all in the same quilt (please don’t disown me!)–but this quilt, these stripes and colors! Ah! They’re beautiful together! Seriously, that quilt looks extra cozy and warm with those colors. If you keep it on your guest bed, can I book a night? I think you may be winning me over with those stripes…which I know my LQS carries… Anyway, can’t wait to see how you quilt it! Hope your machine is home soon!

  6. Love it, I plan to do the cross quilt with these as the cross and low volumes at the back using the Camille Roskelley simply retro pattern….if I ever get a block done I will show you….right now the fabric is just looking pretty :-).

That does look good on the bed!!

  7. Love the stripes on this very cool. I do watch Parenthood but was he looking a little old and big or is that just for the role?! I always watch TV while sewing. Best time for old good chick flicks.

  8. 1) Parenthood is the best show NBC has had going in a long time
    2) luv me some Aiden
    3) That quilt definitely belongs on the guest bed! Love how the alternating stripe direction creates a woven texture!

  9. I love the rich colors in those stripes. It has a Moroccan vibe to it. I haven’t watched Parenthood…. it may be next on my Netflix list since I’ve now finished Friday Night Lights.

  10. I love your quilt. What size did you cut the blocks? Parenthood has been my favorite show for 4 years now. I look forward to Thursdays. And yes, I watch TV while I sew.

  11. Those stripes really lend themselves well to simple patchwork squares. Just gorgeous!

I really enjoy sewing with the tv on. My ideal weekend is lots of sewing a new episode of Doctor Who and race weekend for the motorcycle league I follow. Three of my favourites all at once

  12. I’m so glad you and Ken get along! And I can’t believe it’s going to be another two weeks. You can keep Ken as long as you need to, but those Bernina people need to work on their time estimates

I LOVE Parenthood. Save it for precious quiet moments.

The stripes have such an intriguing personality. They’re crazy but calm. So fun to look at.

  13. Absolutely Stunning. I would have never put those together in a quilt and feel foolish for not considering it (I have several pieces of that line. ) You have a great eye!

  14. Oh. That’s all that came out of my mouth. Okay, a little drool came out the corner when I didn’t close my mouth after that “oh”, but I suppose I didn’t need to admit that. I need one of these. Like, now. Too bad I just bought a bunch of Kaffe shot solids….
