Over Christmas we broke out the butterflies that my mammaw and mother started 35+ years ago. This summer, my mammaw unearthed these treasures, and I was instantly smitten. They cut them from my mother, mammaw’s, and granny Carrie’s clothes. And now I get to finish this quilt they started so long ago. However, after this summer when my mammaw and Pappaw helped me finish sewing the 35 little butterflies to their backings, an intensive two day project, we decided to finish them all together.
Our Christmas Day consisted of learning to appliqué – all of us.
See, all of us, even my little sister’s boyfriend! Obsessed. Now all of the butterflies are done and I’m waiting on the sashing!
